This mural represents the history and advancement of women in the workforce. The women depicted represent various occupations they have engaged in throughout history up to the present and wear the attire
associated with those occupations. The mural is located on the outside wall of the New Century Guild, a women’s vocational school and resource organization, established in 1882 by founder Eliza Turner.

Most of the historical figures depicted in the mural are not famous women, but representations, with the exception of Eleanor Roosevelt. Many of the modern figures in the mural are real people posed in their respective jobs. The masks some women are holding represent issues they face from society and the many "faces" women must wear in their lives
Every object and figure depicted in the mural has a symbolic meaning, for example: quilts - symbolize craft (typically a woman’s trade), angels - announce woman in the workforce and the fountain - symbolizes youth and the purity of adolescence.
